Introduction
Games have been a big part of my life since I was very little and have thought me a lot from simple puzzles and problem solving to life skills. Each game had a certain amount of level and detail to make it what it is and that is what I shall be talking about today. Games now have improved a lot since the early game consoles and more and more people are playing every day. Today I will be talking about some of my personal favorite games and the styles and gameplay on these amazing games.
Portal 2
The first game I have chosen to talk about is portal 2 as it changes drastically from portal 1. The game is set after portal 1 as a sequel where the game starts off still set in the aperture science labs but this time it is run down after the ending of portal 1 (no spoilers). The game is overgrown with vegetation to give it the effect that it is run down. This game is visually beautiful after what happened in portal 1 it makes you think of the actual damage to the lab and everything to do with aperture science. The game was developed by valve cooperation and was made on the source engine. The game is a puzzle-platformer and puts your through different tests and your goal is to find a way out of the labs for science. Portal 2 starts off with you navigating your way through the broken down labs to find the portal gun to finally work out the puzzles to escape. This is different to portal 1 as you follow the instruction of GLaDOS and complete her puzzles throughout the game until the end (again no spoilers) but in his one it is very different as you explore the newly broken down labs and further on in the game the 1940's-1950's lab giving you the ability to explore further. The game has one of the best soundtracks as it will draw you in as you explore the labs. Portal 2 also has some of the best video game voice acting as it is extremely immersive games and will draw you in with in its small play time.

The Last of Us
The second game I have chosen is the last of us. The last of us is a beautiful third-person, survival action game and was a game changer for graphics in gaming as it was one of the best games from a great studio. The game won multiple awards for graphics and storytelling as it has one of the best stories in games in my opinion. The game's story brought some people I know to tears in the first couple minutes and a lot more throughout the game and to be honest I was a bit teary throughout. But we can expect this from naughty dog the developers for this game. The last of us turns 4 this years and currently looks better than games being brought out now. The world design is genuinely amazing with the amount of detail that went into the run down cities and overgrown wasteland after 2 decades of fungus. The AI and the NPC’s are an amazing part of the game finding scavengers and rebels walking through overgrown broken down towns with lines of traffic abandoned, this can make it feel realistic as you go through the story. The game is filled with emotion and makes you feel despaired as you follow the story as it sets the scene. The gameplay can be slow paced until the infected appear or the rebels. As the game is all story driven. The infected are contagious as you try to avoid becoming bitten or infected yourself. The rebels and survivors, on the other hand, are a lot smarter. The game combined with the music and gameplay makes this game a masterpiece and makes this game a must play.

Scott Pilgrim Vs the World: The Game
The final game is a personal favorite of mine and it is based on the comic book and movie by the same name. The game is based on the old 16-bit 2D side scrollers beat ‘em ups like the old streets of rage or Might Morphin Power Rangers for the SNES. The game design is perfect as the 2D side beat em up it is. The background is set on the books mainly and the story follows the books as well but not so much the movie. The visuals are pixelated and made to look 16 bit like I stated. The map menu is a perfect 8-bit map. The gameplay is a simple with a side scroller beat em up with no stop action as you play through the story and boss fights. The game will keep you invested as you play. The game keeps you invested with its addictive gameplay. The game can be frustrating at times but is easy to beat after buying upgrades. The music is some of the best I have heard and I personally have still been listening to it since the game was released in 2010. The art style is what really makes this game as well by trying to be old school and doing it right with the perfect retro game if you like old school side scroller beat em ups.

Thank you
